July 13, 2005 - Day 6 of Remodel

Big changes today.

To avoid down time, our contractor shifted work from the foundation (still no word from the structural engineer), and began to dig out our terraced area of the back yard.

The plan here is to level the terraced area to create a level yard for a lawn, patio, and anything else that will allow the kids more playing room.

All day, large dump trucks came and went from our house. Four truckloads of dirt were hauled away, and it's not yet completely done.

To appreciate the work done, look at these "before" and "after" photos.

















A 6-foot concrete retaining wall will be built around this yard, to make sure that our neighbors' yards do not slide into ours during the first big rain storm.
